Durian Crepes


Of late, Malaysians are posting  lots of this popular recipe, the durian crepes, at first, I was just thinking "Well, its just a normal crepes with durian taste inside" until I tried preparing it myself and having it tasted, it really gives out a "Wow" really yummy! No wonder it is so popular! Not that difficult to be made, but only the standing time, preparing the crepes.. but it is worth the effort. Even with a small amount of measurement, it yields about 10-15 crepes, depends on the size too..



The filling is really creamy as it is a mixture of whipping cream and the durian flesh, while the crepes is a little sweet in comparable to a normal 'Ketayap'  or crepes with sweet coconut fillings, as I have done  earlier in my blog. In fact, the filling could also be substitute with other fruits or custard, if want to, such as bananas or mangoes or even strawberries, that was done by some other bloggers, but since this is my first trial, so I would rather stick to durian for the moment. Nice to have it chilled too.


 Crepes Ingredients
2 cups of multi purpose flour
1 large egg
1 tsp of vanilla essence
2 cups of milk
1-2 cups of water (adjust consistency to making a batter, not too thin or too thick)
A pinch of salt
2-3 tbsp of sugar
1/4 teaspoon of green colouring

1. Combine the above ingredients in a blender and pulse to give a very smooth texture and sieve.
2. Heat up a griddle and rub it with some oil (apply only on the first layer of the crepe)
3. Using a small ladle, scoop one full ladle and pour mixture onto griddle, making it a round and flat 4 inch crepe over a low heat and leave to cook, once the edges expel from the griddle, remove and place it on a flat plate. Repeat process till finish.
4. Take one piece of the crepes, with smooth surface down and place  about 1-2 teaspoon of whipping cream to the centre of the crepes, with a teaspoon of the durian, and top up with another layer of whipping cream.
5. Fold it into a square shape with edges tucked beneath.

Ingredients for the filling
2 cups of durian flesh (mash)
1 box of whipping (cream - I have used the Emborg brand, its not sweet)
3 tbsp of sugar
1 tsp of vanilla essence

Combine ingredients in a mixer and beat until it forms soft peaks.
